Sovah Health Implements Eon Technology to Improve Management of Lung Cancer Patients
Oct 09, 2018
DENVER, Oct. 9, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Eon announces that they have implemented EonDirect at Sovah Health, a regional health system located in southern Virginia with two campuses in Danville and Martinsville. Using proprietary deep learning and machine automation software, EonDirect will help improve the management of lung cancer screening patients initially at Sovah Health – Martinsville ("Martinsville") and will be implemented at the Danville campus later this year. By longitudinally tracking patient care per evidence-based clinical care guidelines, Sovah Health will ensure data is interoperable across the system, and automate time-consuming tasks such as data entry.
"As part of Sovah Health's commitment to making communities healthier, we are excited to implement EonDirect at both of our campuses to ensure earlier intervention and more timely follow-up for our lung cancer patients," said Tory Shepherd, Assistant Administrator of Sovah Health - Martinsville.
Research shows that areas in the southern Virginia region have among the highest incidence of lung cancer and lung cancer-related deaths in the state of Virginia. In 2016, Sovah Health – Martinsville launched a comprehensive lung program with the arrival of interventional pulmonologist Michael Boyd. In addition to low-dose CT lung cancer scans, the hospital's lung nodule clinic provides early diagnosis, navigation and expedited care for lung nodules. Dr. Boyd and his team utilize Endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS) and navigational bronchoscopies to diagnose and stage lung cancer, which can be treated locally at the Ravenel Cancer Center.
EonDirect's easy longitudinal tracking of patients will allow care coordination teams at Martinsville to effectively manage pulmonary nodule and lung cancer patients, providing timely clinical guideline-based care. Furthermore, utilizing proprietary machine automation, EonDirect automates tasks such as data entry and patient communication. Hospitals using EonDirect report spending less than 15 minutes per patient per year, as opposed to hours per patient, giving them more time to concentrate on higher-risk patients.
"It has been an honor to partner with Sovah Health and work with a team so committed to providing standard of care to non-standard findings. EonDirect will streamline how their physicians and strong care coordination team manage lung cancer patients," said Eon co-CEO Christine Spraker. "We're looking forward to a strong continued partnership with Sovah Health and to launch EonDirect at both hospitals. Working together we can ensure patients receive the right care at the right time, every time."
